I have always treasured special occasions that involved family and very close friends. Most often, I have found myself keeping note of such events by maintaining a list of reminders that kept me prepared at all times. I am not sure what it is with myself in doing such things, but I am aware that they have a special place in my heart.
It all started during my teenage years when my eldest sister had her first-born, which was also the first baby to belong to the third generation of my immediate family. I still remember clearly when I was handed down the responsibility of looking out for her during her first few years of growing up in our humble home. We were so thankful of my sister’s generosity in providing us every single opportunity to spend time with my niece. I could say that it was the most exhilarating experience I have known having to be a part of what she has grown up to be. A couple of years then and what she had turned out to be at this very moment is just a real blessing. I have never imagined that time could pass so quickly and that it would not be too long that she gets to start her own independent life. My niece’s university days have just ended a few months back and have just made everyone really proud. I have kept memorabilia’s of that event safely hidden together with personal effects she had as a young child when she was growing up with us. I have even kept a copy of graduation announcements that had her name boldly printed. I guess I will have it laminated and framed and possibly send to her as a present for her next birthday.
